Qrunfleh:The environment is a crucial component in the growth of economic activities

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Authenticity, Dr. Muhammad Qurunfleh asserted that the environment remains the active element in the sustainability of many economic activities, such as tourism, agriculture, and human resources, and that is why it was one of the most important goals of the Kingdom's 2030 vision, which was stipulated in the third item of the National Transformation Program of the vision.

This came during the expanded meeting organized by the Asharqia Chamber represented by the Environment Committee, which was held Sunday (15 / November / 2020) and was transmitted via live broadcast, and moderated by the Chairman of the Committee Talal Al-Rasheed. Efforts in public activities, economic in particular.

Qrunfleh pointed out that in order to build the capabilities and capabilities necessary to achieve the ambitious goals of the "Kingdom's Vision 2030", the need to launch the National Transformation Program as one of the vision's implementation programs has emerged at the level of 24 governmental bodies based on the economic and development sectors so that it is the first of the programs that aim to develop Government work and establishing the necessary infrastructure to achieve the vision and accommodate its ambitions and requirements.

He reviewed the most important objectives of the third dimension (ensuring the sustainability of vital resources), which is the preparation of natural areas (reserves, islands, and beaches), in a manner that makes them attractive to private sector investments in order to maintain, rehabilitate and develop them, and the dimension is keen to develop environmental protection from natural hazards. And this is through "developing vegetation cover to reduce desertification and sand encroachment, enhancing prevention of insects and pests harmful to vegetation cover, and developing national capacities to achieve protection in order to predict natural hazards and respond quickly to them"

He believes that this dimension faces challenges, the most prominent of which is the natural accidents that the environment is exposed to, such as desertification, torrential rains, sandstorms, outbreaks of epidemics, and losses caused by sandstorms and torrents, as well as threats to wildlife.
Regarding the efforts made to protect the environment, and then to achieve the third dimension that supports the national transformation project adopted by Vision 2030, and to enhance the economic effects from all of this, the Kingdom has begun to establish four national centers specialized in protecting and sustaining the environment, namely: “The National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification,” The National Center for Monitoring Environmental Compliance, the National Center for Wildlife Development, the National Center of Meteorology, and the National Center for Waste Management.
Accordingly, he referred to the inauguration of His Excellency the Minister of Environment and Agriculture of the new identity of the "Environment Fund", which was launched by Cabinet Resolution No. 416 dated 07/19/1440, which is based on the financial sustainability of the environment sector and providing the necessary capabilities for its advancement, by contributing to support Operating budgets for environmental centers, supporting environmental programs, studies and initiatives, stimulating environmentally friendly technologies, improving environmental performance and environmental rehabilitation programs.
